Area Information

Capitola Village is a charming coastal community commanding gorgeous views of the Monterey Bay. The lovely Soquel Creek meanders through the Village on its way to the sea. Several restaurants line the river offering spectacular vistas. Of special note is the Shadowbrook that takes guests via a historic tramway to its romantic surroundings.

Capitola Village is only 8 blocks west of the hotel. Established in 1864, it is considered California’s oldest seaside resort. Stroll down the Capitola Wharf to take in marvelous views of the coastline. From the wharf you can rent a small boat, try your luck fishing or enjoy fine dining. Back on shore browse through dozens of quaint shops and art galleries. We also recommend stepping back in time at the Capitola Museum, just past the historic railroad trestle. A mile or so further inland, you’ll come upon another quaint village, Soquel, known for its many antique shops and wineries.

Pleasure Point, one of California’s premier surf spots, is only 8 blocks south of the hotel. The area between the hotel and Pleasure Point is home to a thriving surf industry, including O’Neill, Billabong, Santa Cruz Surf Shop, Freeline and Paradise, the last specializing in women’s surf gear and apparel.

The hotel lies on 41st Avenue, the commercial hub of Santa Cruz County. Capitola Mall, the County’s only indoor shopping mall, is only one block away. The Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk, with non-stop family fun, is 3 miles from the hotel. The area also boasts towering redwood forests and miles of pristine beaches. Capitola itself was named one of the best beach locations on the California Coast by Sunset Magazine.
